Job summary

Hebrew SeniorLife is seeking a Purchasing Clerk to work with the Manager of Purchasing and Chefs to maintain supply and inventory for the Culinary and Nutrition Department. The role includes storing and issuing food supplies to applicable areas and ensuring consistent service.

You will place daily orders, receive and verify deliveries, monitor PAR levels, and supervise receiving staff to ensure accuracy and adherence to procedures. FIFO practices are essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of inventory management concepts and automated inventory management systems.
• Basic computer skills and ability to operate office equipment.
• 1-2 years’ experience at an equivalent responsibility level.

Responsibilities

• Place daily orders with approved suppliers.
• Receive supplies and packages, count to ensure accuracy, deliver items to proper locations, and maintain PAR levels.
• Oversee receiving staff to ensure accuracy and awareness of PAR levels.
• Check vendor packing slips and invoices for discrepancies.
• Inspect containers and perishable foods on receipt for quality and condition.
• Label and date all perishable foods received.
• Store food and supplies promptly according to FIFO and established processes.
• Maintain Temps logs and process invoices into the purchasing spreadsheet.
