Job summary

The Hotel Hershey in Hershey, PA is seeking a Culinary Intern for Fall 2026. You will work across kitchens, be coached by Sous Chefs, and develop operational capability and professional skills at a luxury resort renowned for its elegance and amenities.

Must be at least 18, enrolled in Culinary Arts, or a recent graduate within 6 months. ServSafe preferred; ability to work evenings and weekends. This is a union position with potential housing support.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Culinary Arts program or recent graduate within 6 months.
• ServSafe certification preferred (not mandatory).

Responsibilities

• Maintain clean and organized work areas per ServSafe and safety standards.
• Demonstrate safe handling of knives and equipment.
• Assist in multiple kitchen stations and learn recipes quickly.
• Follow verbal directions and written recipes; ask questions when needed.
• Support senior staff to produce a professional level of culinary work.

An Internship in Culinary at The Hotel Hershey is focused on developing a strong operational capability in the student. Our students will work in the various kitchens, be coached by Sous Chefs and senior line staff and be challenged to execute at a professional production level. The Culinary Intern/extern is expected to bring a passion and focus on learning, maintain a professional demeanor and be committed to the full term of the Intern/Externship.

Job Duties (Duties marked with an asterisk are essential functions of this job):

Maintain a clean and organized work area using ServSafe training and State Food Safety regulations*

Demonstrate safe handling of tools, knives and equipment in carrying out assigned tasks*

Exhibit basic knowledge and understanding of cooking techniques; strive to advance knowledge and skills*

Follow verbal direction and written recipes quickly and accurately; asking appropriate questions for clarification*

Develop proficiency in operating assigned stations*

Performs all job related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years of age or older

Must be a student currently enrolled in a Culinary Arts program or a recent Culinary Arts graduate within 6 months of applying

ServSafe certification preferred

Must have a full knife kit

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in English

Must demonstrate fundamental culinary knowledge and a passion for the craft

Must be knowledgeable of weights, measures, and math used in kitchen applications

Ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment

Job Demands:

Additional physical requirements include repetitive elbow motions for chopping, repetitive write motions for stirring and chopping.

Must have ability of taste buds to distinguish between and among flavors, spices, temperature, and mouth feel (smoothness, pungency, etc.) of food, and beverage.

Must have the ability of olfactory nerves to distinguish between and among odors and scents as to their appeal and level of intensity.

Must be able to work in extreme temperatures.

Access to reliable transportation must be available

Students must wear proper school uniform for work, if uniforms are provided by the school.

This is a union position and the work schedule will be based on union seniority. Candidates must be able to meet scheduled requirements, which will most likely require evening and weekend hours.

• Exact start and end dates for Fall 2026 can be flexible given the student's availability for an internship.
• Housing may be available depending on start date/availability. If utilized, a weekly housing fee of $160 per week, inclusive of utilities, will be automatically deducted from students’ biweekly paychecks.
