The Consumer & Culinary Insights team plays a critical role in understanding our guests’ evolving tastes and preferences, using data-driven insights to guide menu innovation and culinary strategy.

The Culinary Insights Analyst will support our culinary research efforts by leveraging consumer data, survey research, and market trends to inform culinary innovation. This role will support our Senior Manager, Consumer Insights and work closely with cross-functional teams including Culinary, Marketing, Finance, and Operations, to translate insights into actionable recommendations that enhance the guest experience and drive business growth. They will support various research tests, including the facilitation of concept screening, central location testing, and sensory panels, ensuring that new menu items resonate with our guests before launch. They will also play a key role in supporting the culinary research process throughout product launches, tracking performance, gathering guest feedback, and refining insights to optimize future offerings.

The ideal candidate will have a solid consumer insights or market research background, understand research best practices, and have experience partnering with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate also has experience with Qualtrics (or similar survey & analysis tool), an ability to manage and synthesize complex research data into actionable opportunities, familiarity with market research survey concepts, and a desire to unify data across multiple sources to drive business change.

This role is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team of analytical professionals that partner with Culinary, Marketing, Operations, and Finance teams to be the voice of the guest in all aspects of the business. This role will mix business acumen, technical capabilities, and relationship development to support key areas of Shake Shack’s growth plan.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute and analyze qualitative and quantitative research studies to understand guest preferences and menu opportunities.
• Leverage data from sources such as surveys, syndicated research, social listening, and sales analytics to generate insights.
• Develop clear and compelling presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Track KPIs for new menu items and guest satisfaction metrics.
• Stay ahead of industry and consumer trends, providing thought leadership on emerging food and beverage insights.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external research vendors to ensure high-quality research execution and analysis.
• Support the culinary research process pre-launch, during, and post-launch by concept screening, analyzing product performance, collecting consumer feedback, and identifying areas for improvement.
• Conduct ad hoc analyses, including findings & actions, for business leaders to evaluate market and product opportunities.
• Support the development and management of end-to-end processes for creating primary research questionnaires, screener questions, analysis and reporting of results.
  
  

Skills & Knowledge

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Market Research, Business, Food Science, or a related field.
• Experience with data analysis, interpretation and presentation using MS Office tools is essential
• Qualtrics (or similar program) experience including survey and dashboard development
• Solid understanding of market research & survey techniques
• Ability or desire to work with SQL, Alteryx, or similar database tool
• Comfortable working with large data sets
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
• Attention to detail, high emotional-IQ, and a strong ability to put yourself in the guests’ shoes.
• Desire to learn, support, contribute, and grow an analytical capability centered around the needs of the customer.
  
  

Experience

• A passion for food, hospitality, and understanding consumer behavior
• 2+ years of experience in consumer insights or market research
• 2+ years of Qualtrics or similar program is a plus
• Experience working in dynamic environment with strong problem-solving skills
• Experience working with SQL, Alteryx, Python or related tools is a plus
