Job summary

Sweetwater Care is seeking a Cook to prepare and serve meals in a long-term care setting. You will follow planned menus and recipes, monitor food handling, and ensure all meals meet quality and nutrition standards.

Responsibilities include reviewing menus and census data, assisting with ordering and storage, and operating kitchen equipment safely. Prior experience in large-scale kitchens and LTC is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
• Two years as cook in a large-scale cooking operation, preferred.
• One year’s work experience in long term care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares meal items according to planned menus and recipes; consults supervisor for menu changes.
• Reviews menus, census, production guides and pre-prep sheets to determine food quantities.
• Prepares food following safe handling guidelines per policy and regulations; ensures timely service.
• Assists with ordering, storage and preparation as designated; preserves food quality and serves meals on time.
• Maintains standards for food prep/quality and uses substitutes when required; follows recipes.
• Operates kitchen equipment (blenders, mixer, slicer, steamer, processor, oven, range, tilt skillet).
• Prepares consistency-modified and diet foods; assists with special function meals.
• Cleans as scheduled; washes pots/pans; ensures hygienic work areas.
