Job summary

Kalamazoo Valley Community College is seeking responsible, energetic and motivated individuals to serve as Culinary & Brewing Lab Assistants. Lab Assistants support instructors, staff and students with classroom, kitchen, brewery, laboratory, retail and special event activities. Assignments may vary depending on instructional and operational needs.

Work Hours: Up to 29 hours per week. Posting Date 10/02/2026.

Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Knowledge of basic food handling and sanitation practices.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Reliable, motivated, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Preparing kitchens, brewery, laboratory and/or instructional spaces for classes and activities.
Assisting instructors and students with demonstrations and hands-on activities.
Providing hands-on support for activities such as food preparation, brewing, retail operations and special events.
Assisting with receiving, storing, organizing and distributing food, beverages, supplies and equipment.
Supporting inventory, stocking, packaging and storage activities.
Assisting with beer production, fermentation monitoring, transfers, carbonation and kegging if assigned.
Setting up, operating and cleaning basic culinary, brewery and laboratory equipment.
Supporting food and beverage operations, including preparation, service, stocking and cashiering.
Maintaining safe, clean, organized and instruction-ready work areas.
Completing other related duties as assigned.
