Position Summary

Under close supervision and according to established policies and procedures, you will assist in the preparation and set‑up of meal service, serve customers, and assist in the breakdown and cleanup of service areas. You will receive, pick up, and/or deliver food items and supplies; stock shelves and beverage refrigerators; operate dish room equipment; clean equipment; and perform other miscellaneous duties as required.

Responsibilities

• Operate dish room equipment and wash and properly organize and store all dishes, trays, pots, pans, and utensils. Sweep and mop floors, freezers, and coolers as needed.
• Empty trash containers and remove trash to compactor as needed.
• Assist in receiving food items and supplies, stocking shelves and beverage refrigerators, picking up and/or delivering food, supplies, and other items. This may involve driving to and from various off‑premises locations.
• Demonstrate respect, courtesy, and professionalism to all patients, guests and hospital associates at all times. Demonstrate commitment to service and contribute to creating a positive, caring environment.
• Follow and comply with all mandatory sanitation policies and procedures.
• Greet and positively respond to all customer needs.
• Receive cash payments and make change as required for all sales of food in cafeteria. Operate POS system.
• Assist in cleaning, restocking items, and serving customers.
• Balance cash drawer, prepare cashier’s reports, pre‑set register, and secure change from office safe for the next day.
• Ensure that personal performance reflects the Mission, Vision, Standards of Behavior, and Service Goals. Maintain constant, accurate communication with Director and supervisors and provide customer feedback.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years of food service experience.
• Serve‑Safe certification.
• Ability to perform substantial physical effort, including lifting, moving, loading, unloading, pushing heavy objects, and scrubbing.
• Frequent contact with others and ability to provide directions and perform other activities with a high level of professionalism.
• Compliance with all company, departmental, state, federal, and local regulations and codes.
• Valid Ohio motor vehicle operator’s license and a driving record acceptable to the hospital’s liability carrier for driving vans or small trucks to deliver food and supplies.
• Knowledge of LMHS accreditation standards (DNV and TJC) and willingness to complete any required annual education related to specialty certifications and standards.
