Job summary

Brethren Care Village in Ashland, OH is seeking a Culinary Assistant - Baker and Prep Cook for daytime hours. This part-time role (24 hours/week) features no late nights and a schedule from 9am to 5:30pm, with pay ranging from $13.50 to $15.30 per hour based on experience.

You will prepare salads, desserts, vegetables, serve meals, assist in the dish room, follow recipes, and maintain sanitation while collaborating with the Dietary Manager.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ with a minimum of a 10th grade education.
• Knowledge of baking.
• ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and portion foods according to recipes and schedules.
• Serve meals in Main Kitchen.
• Assist in the dish room.
• Stock using FIFO.
• Maintain sanitation and cleaning tasks.
• Review menus with Dietary Manager.
• Bake general baked goods.
• Attend in-service trainings.

What You'll Do as a Culinary Assistant - Baker and Prep Cook:

• Prepares and portions food such as salads, desserts and vegetables in accordance with production sheets, standardized recipes, portion control and time schedules.
• Serves meals in Main Kitchen.
• Assists in the dish room.
• Puts stock away using FIFO (First in First out).
• Maintains high standards of sanitation and completes daily and special cleaning tasks as outlined on the sanitation checklist.
• Meets with the Dietary Manager to review daily menus and special functions to ensure proper portion control and that special diet needs are being met.
• Bakes general baking goods.
• Attends in-service training sessions.

Requirements for a Culinary Assistant - Baker and Prep Cook:

• Requires applicant to be at least 18 years of age with a minimum of 10th grade education.
• Knowledge of baking.
• Serve Safe certified or willing to obtain upon hire.
