The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a part-time Culinary Arts Instructor at the XXX Family YMCA in Gig Harbor to provide leadership, instruction and motivation for culinary arts classes, creating a quality experience for students and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

The role involves curriculum development, lesson planning, member communication, and marketing ideas as the program grows.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks.
• Committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
• Able to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other required trainings.
• Minimum of 18 years of age or older.
• 5+ years of formal culinary arts training or comparable experience.
• 1-2 years of experience as a culinary arts teacher or teaching assistant preferred.
• Ability to create engaging lesson plans reflecting age and ability levels.
• Able to obtain and maintain CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.
• Able to obtain and maintain a WA State Department of Health Food Handler Card.

Responsabilités

• Teach and demonstrate sound culinary techniques and principles to program participants.
• Create class lesson plans within the allotted budgeted hours with a natural progression aligned to ages and abilities.
• Attend and contribute to YMCA events as assigned.
• Communicate program information and student progress to youth/arts director and members.
• Attend training and meetings as required by the center and association culinary art staff.
• Assist the youth/arts director in reaching campaign goals by sharing the Y story and supporting events.
• Maintain a clean and organized classroom and store supplies after each class.
