Job summary

Cardiff Seaside Market in Encinitas is seeking a friendly Deli Clerk to assist in the cuisine department, greet customers, package orders, and keep displays appealing.

You will operate deli equipment, help with food preparation, rotate stock, and ensure safety and health guidelines are followed. This role requires a GED, a Food Handler Certification, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds as described.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years old or older.

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Provide premier customer service, greeting customers and responding to questions.

• Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance and observe dress regulations.

• Follow health guidelines to ensure safe product for customers.

Summary: Assist in the day-to-day activities in the cuisine department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Providing premier customer service, including greeting customers and responding to questions;
• Selecting and packaging products ordered by customers;
• Filling, maintaining special orders and party trays;
• Rotates product and stocks product;
• Operates meat and cheese slicers, oven, fryers, BBQ’s, microwave, cutting tools and other deli equipment;
• Assist with food preparation;
• Awareness of all cuisine departments items i.e. charcuterie, bakery
• Sweep and mop floors as well as empty trash.
• Other duties as assigned;
• Observe all store rules and company policies;
• Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times and observe company dress regulations;
• Follow safety guidelines when working, especially when lifting, using cutting tools, large machinery, ladders, stretch and take breaks when performing repetitive motions, etc.;
• Follow health guidelines to ensure safe product is provided to our customers;
• Knowledge of Weight & Measure Laws.
