Job summary

National Life Group in Addison, TX seeks a Chief Technology Officer to lead modernization of core insurance platforms and the technology ecosystem. You will guide a largely outsourced IT organization to enable scalable growth, innovation, and superior customer experiences.

The role requires 10+ years in Life & Annuity IT and a proven track record in cloud, AI/ML, and enterprise architecture, reporting to the CIO with potential succession. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• 20+ years of information technology experience and 10+ years of IT leadership and business transformation in Life & Annuity.
• Deep understanding of Life & Annuity operations including New Business, Underwriting, Claims, and Product management.
• Proven track record delivering large technology transformations and cloud-based environments.
• Strong ability to present complex IT concepts to senior leadership and manage multi-vendor partnerships.
• Willingness to lead with curiosity, strategic thinking, and hands-on execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead modernization of core insurance platforms and technology ecosystem to scale and compete.
• Assess talent and develop a fit-for-purpose operating model with strong sourcing strategy.
• Drive cloud adoption, modern software architectures, CI/CD, DevOps, AI/ML, and AI governance.
• Promote Agile, Lean Product Development, Lean Operations, and Design Thinking.
• Coordinate with CIO and executive leadership to align technology investments with business goals.
• Oversee a large, outsourced IT organization with onshore and offshore teams.
