Who We Are

Founded in 2014, CT Mechanical is the commercial mechanical contracting division of Comfort Temp Company. We design, install and service mechanical, plumbing and process piping systems for clients across Florida, with offices in Gainesville, Jacksonville, Orlando and Tampa. We’re known for doing quality work the right way, investing in our people, and staying involved in the communities we build in.

The Opportunity

We’re hiring a Project Engineer to be the technical and administrative backbone behind our Project Managers. You’ll own the paperwork, procurement and coordination that keep a mechanical job moving, from the day it’s handed off by estimating to the day the owner signs off at closeout. If you’re early in your career and want real responsibility on commercial projects, with a defined path into project management, this role is built for you.

What You’ll Do
Getting projects started
  • Gather estimate files and scope details from our Estimators, review assumptions, and run turnover meetings for Jacksonville and Gainesville mechanical projects
  • Study the plans and specs to confirm scope, spot conflicts or coordination problems, and raise them with the PM before they become field issues
Submittals, RFIs and documents
  • Create the submittal log directly from the contract documents, chase submittals from suppliers and subs, check them against project requirements, send them for approval, and get approved copies to everyone who needs them
  • Catch gaps and discrepancies in the design, write and track RFIs, and push answers out to the field and affected subcontractors
  • Keep plan revisions current for our team and our subs, and maintain the project tracking log covering submittals, material releases, POs, subcontracts, signed documents and approved changes
Buying and tracking
  • Confirm and record lead times for equipment and materials, monitor release and delivery dates, and work with vendors to protect the schedule
  • Write and issue purchase orders and subcontracts, with full records of each one and any changes to it
  • Handle Owner-Direct Purchase requests from submission through approval and invoicing for owner payment
  • Collect project-specific insurance certificates from mechanical subcontractors on Jacksonville and Gainesville jobs
Changes, schedule and field
  • Help PMs evaluate scope changes by pulling pricing from vendors and subs, building change order proposals, and tracking them to approval
  • Make sure subs and field crews always have the latest schedule, and help coordinate with the GC and other trades
  • Get out to jobsites as needed to check progress, answer technical questions for the crews, and document field conditions
Closing it out
  • Assemble O&M manuals: vendor data, start-up reports, as-builts, TAB reports and warranties
  • Support commissioning and set up owner training sessions when required
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline (preferred)
  • 0–3 years in project engineering, project coordination or similar work in construction or mechanical contracting; internships count
  • Able to read and understand mechanical and plumbing drawings and specs; working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and piping systems is a bonus
  • Solid with Excel, Word and Outlook; experience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit or project management software is a plus
  • Organized, detail-focused and comfortable juggling multiple priorities
  • A problem-solver who communicates clearly in writing and in person and doesn’t wait to be told what’s next
How We Work

Our team runs on four core values: Do what you say. Do what it takes. Walk with purpose. Do the right thing. We back those up with a collaborative culture, real investment in your professional growth, and a commitment to the communities we serve.
