Job summary

The Florida Department of Corrections seeks a Career and Technical Education Teacher to instruct inmates in Masonry or HVAC at Suwanee Correctional Institution. The role focuses on delivering engaging, standards-based CTE lessons that build practical skills and promote successful reintegration.

You will manage classroom safety, supervise inmate participants, maintain records, assess progress, and collaborate with staff to align curricula with program requirements.

Qualifications

• 3 years’ experience in the CTE subject area being taught.
• Must hold applicable subject area license or be willing to obtain within 12 months.
• Official transcripts may be required for degree/licensure.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and teach CTE classes to inmates in Masonry or HVAC.
• Maintain discipline, roll calls, and attendance records.
• Evaluate progress, administer grades, and counsel students on progress.
• Participate in staff meetings and assist with curriculum/budget processes.
