Job description

Sallie B. Howard School of Arts & Science – a K-12 free public charter school established in Wilson, N.C. in 1997 – is expanding its Career Technical Education (CTE) program and, thus, seeking a licensed instructor to teach Health Science I and II for the 2025-2026 school year. The ideal candidate should hold an Associate’s degree or higher in Nursing or a related field with at least two years related work experience in nursing within the past five years. Teacher will work in a brand new facility dedicated to CTE. Position is Part-Time or Full-Time.

Additional skills and requirements:

1. Must have or be eligible for a CTE license in any area.
2. Teach courses in the health science CTE curriculum, as per the NC Standard Course of Study.
3. Solid understanding of state curriculum standards and experience in closing the achievement gap.
4. Develop and deliver engaging, innovative lessons that allow students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
5. Effective classroom management.
6. Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in.
7. Provide documentation of students’ progress.
8. Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
9. A team player with an attitude of flexibility.
10. Willing to engage in parent and community outreach.
