Required Certificates and Licenses: Active Middle School 4-8 Generalist or 4-8 Social Studies Certificate

Residency Requirements: This position is virtual and strongly prefers residents of Texas. May consider residents of surrounding states (NM, OK, AK, LA). Travel up to 20% may be required for professional development, testing, and other school functions.

The Middle School Social Studies Teacher is a highly qualified, state-certified educator responsible for delivering course content online. Teachers provide instruction, support, and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on individual student needs. They monitor progress via Stride K12’s learning management system, work closely with students and parents/learning coaches, and may travel occasionally for school functions. Teachers typically work from home.

We are seeking passionate educators for Lone Star Online Academy (LSOA), part of Stride K12, which provides a rigorous, student-centered curriculum with community partnerships. Success is measured through assessments, satisfaction, and growth.

This position offers a base salary around $49,000 plus performance bonuses. It is a full-time remote role requiring 40+ hours per week, working independently during standard hours (8am-5pm CT), maintaining a professional home office.

Essential Functions

• Provide engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences
• Personalize learning for all students
• Maintain high expectations and believe in student success
• Differentiates instruction based on mastery levels
• Use appropriate tools to augment course content under guidance
• Maintain grade books, make promotion decisions, and communicate with families
• Prepare students for standardized tests
• Establish positive rapport with families and respond promptly
• Support parents and troubleshoot in a virtual environment
• Travel approximately once a month for school functions

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• Active state teaching license
• Ability to pass background check
