Job summary

Journey Community Schools invites applications for an instructional role in Memphis. You will deliver high-quality instruction in a small-school setting, empower students to own their learning, and contribute to ongoing improvement of our nationally recognized model.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree, teaching licensure, and familiarity with CTE. Prefer 1+ year of classroom experience and strong knowledge of Tennessee State Standards to tailor lessons for diverse learners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or higher
• Licensure to teach with authorization
• CTE credential or experience preferred
• 1+ year experience with students in teaching roles preferred
• Knowledge of Tennessee State Standards and subject frameworks
• Understanding of child development and diverse learning styles
• Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction

Responsibilities

• Establish a culture of high expectations for all scholars and teammates
• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with Tennessee standards
• Assess students regularly and differentiate instruction based on data
• Communicate with students and families as partners in education
• Address unique student needs with team collaboration
• Participate in professional development with staff and instructional coaches

Education

Bachelor’s degree

Licensure to teach

Career and Technical Education (CTE)

1+ year working with students as a teacher or teaching assistant

Knowledge of State Standards and subject-specific frameworks

Knowledge of child cognitive development and learning styles

Data analysis of qualitative and quantitative student data
