The Dental Assisting Teacher will be starting a NEW Dental Assisting Program. The teacher is responsible for planning, developing and implementing a comprehensive Chapter 74 Dental Assisting Program for high school students in grades 9–12. Students who graduate from the program should leave with the knowledge of the curriculum frameworks and technical competencies skills needed to be successful in the workplace and or in their continued studies.
In this inaugural year, the teacher will work full time, using the first semester (Sept.–Jan.) to build the curriculum and the program (alongside the CTE Director). Direct student instruction (full time) will begin January 2027.
Work is generally performed in a school environment during the school day, however there may be occasions for after school meetings (ex. Back to School night, Advisory). Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function; rarely absent or late unless the situation is of an emergency nature.
While performing the duties of this job, the teacher is frequently required to walk, sit, talk and hear. The teacher is regularly required to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and stand for long periods of time. The teacher is occasionally required to lift and or move objects weighing up to 50lbs. Must have sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school building. The teacher may also be required to operate hand tools and motor equipment and may work in confined spaces with exposure to dust, smoke fumes and gases.
