Job summary

Charles County Public Schools seeks a program recruiter to identify and recruit students for Career Technical Education (CTE) programs and to coordinate on-site visits for prospective candidates. You will engage with home schools and parents to communicate progress and opportunities.

You will assist teachers with daily classroom matters related to CTE, coordinate career presentations, mentor students, and support program advisory committees, accreditation, and chapter activities at the regional

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience working with middle and high school students.
  • Knowledge of Career Technical Education and family involvement.
  • Exemplary human relations, organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work with guidance staff and parents.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and identify qualified students for CTE programs.
  • Implement presentations and arrange on-site visits for prospective candidates.
  • Maintain communication with home schools and parents regarding progress.
  • Assist teachers daily with classroom issues and attendance for CTE students.
  • Coordinate and support career-related presentations and activities for CTE students.
  • Act as a mentor to student CTE population.
  • Support instructors with Program Advisory Committee Meetings, Certification, and Accreditation.
  • Coordinate and support SkillsUSA chapter activities at the center.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working with middle and high school students.
  • Knowledge of Career Technical Education.
  • Experience and knowledge in career exploration and development of college and career plans.
  • Knowledge of current practices in family involvement.
  • Exemplary human relations skills.
  • Exemplary organizational, oral communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent computer and technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Publisher, Word, and Excel).
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work closely with guidance community, assistant principals and parents.
  • Capacity to perform routine clerical procedures
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for the recruitment and identifying qualified students for the CTE (Career Technical Education) programs.

  • Responsible for assisting teachers daily regarding classroom issues and attendance for CTE students.
  • Responsible for coordinating and providing career-related presentations and activities for CTE students.
  • Acts as a mentor to student CTE population.
  • Support CTE instructors with program requirements such as Program Advisory Committee Meetings, Program Certification, and Accreditation.
  • Coordinate and support the chapter of SkillsUSA at Robert D. Stethem Educational Center.
  • Other duties as assigned.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
