Job summary

Woonsocket Career and Technical Center in Woonsocket, RI, seeks a CTE Construction Teacher for a long-term substitute role. You’ll supervise shop safety, guide high school students through carpentry and general construction projects, and adapt lessons for diverse learners.

Immediate starting date with a strong emphasis on hands-on learning. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, 1–3 years of construction-related experience, and OSHA/shop safety awareness; CPR/First Aid certification

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; associate degree preferred.
• 1–3 years of practical experience in construction or related school settings.
• Strong working knowledge of basic construction tools.
• Trade/carpentry certification preferred.
• Valid First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Enforce Safety Protocols: supervise tool use, PPE compliance, OSHA standards.
• Manage Emergency Procedures: respond to incidents and report hazards.
• Support Practical Projects: guide students through carpentry tasks and blueprint reading.
• Differentiate Learning: adapt instruction for diverse learners and ELLs.
• Demonstrate Techniques: model proper tool handling and measuring accuracy.
• Prepare Materials: stage lumber, hardware, and safety gear for labs.
• Maintain Organization: oversee shop clean-up and tool check-in/out.
