Job summary

Liberty School District is seeking a qualified high school CTE agriculture teacher for grades 9-12. The role includes teaching agriculture and shop/industrial arts with a vocational focus, advising the Sprague FFA Chapter, and preparing students for CDEs, leadership opportunities, and SAE projects.

Candidates should hold a Washington State teaching certificate with a science endorsement and Agriculture Education endorsement, with CT E certificate preferred.

Qualifications

• Possess a valid Washington State teaching certificate with a science endorsement and knowledge of or endorsed in Agriculture Education
• Preferred a valid Career and Technical Education (CTE) certificate with Agriculture Education endorsement or willing to apply for a Conditional Certificate

Responsibilities

• Possess current knowledge of high school CTE agriculture curriculum
• Effectively teach CTE agriculture classes for grades 9-12
• Effectively teach shop and/or industrial arts classes with an emphasis in vocational agriculture
• Advisor Sprague FFA Chapter and prepare students for career development events (CDEs), leadership opportunities, and SAE projects
• Communicate and establish rapport with students, parents, staff, community, and administrative personnel
• Work with local Ag. advisory committee members
• Maintain safety and cleanliness in a shop setting
• Work with students who have IEPs
• Work with students in HCP
• Track student progress and maintain accurate records
• Maintain a positive classroom environment with effective classroom management
• Collaborate with PLC groups as a positive team member
• Organize the classroom to contribute to learning
• Complete other duties as assigned

Job description

• Possess current knowledge of high school CTE agriculture curriculum
• Effectively teach CTE agriculture classes for grades 9-12
• Effectively teach shop and/or industrial arts classes with an emphasis in vocational agriculture
• Work well with Sprague FFA Chapter members as their advisor and effectively prepare them to compete in career development events (CDEs), attend leadership opportunities, and complete SAE projects.
• Effectively communicate and establish rapport with students, parents, staff, community, and administrative personnel
• Productively work with the local Ag. advisory committee members
• Maintain safety and cleanliness in a shop setting
• Work with students who have Individual Educational Plan (IEP)
• Work with students who are part of the Highly Capable Program (HCP)
• Demonstrate the ability to effectively track student progress and maintain accurate records
• Demonstrate ability to maintain a positive classroom environment through the use of appropriate classroom management techniques consistent with best practices
• Be a positive team builder who works collaboratively and participates constructively with our PLC groups
• Organize the physical setting of the classroom so it positively contributes to learning
• Complete other duties as assigned
