Qualifications

  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate CTE endorsement(s) or eligibility for CTE certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of woods manufacturing, woodworking, construction trades, metal fabrication, welding, greenhouse operations, plant science, agriculture, or related fields.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with students, staff, families, and community members.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to safely operate and instruct students in the use of shop tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

Job description

Instruction
  • Deliver established curriculum in woods manufacturing, woodworking, greenhouse management, horticulture, and related CTE coursework.
  • Provide hands-on instruction in the safe operation of woodworking tools, machinery, and greenhouse equipment.
  • Implement lesson plans, assess student progress, and maintain accurate student records.
  • Maintain a positive, respectful, and productive classroom culture.
  • Adapt instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Program Supervision
  • Ensure compliance with all district, state, and industry safety standards.
  • Supervise student work in shop and greenhouse settings.
  • Maintain inventory and organization of tools, equipment, materials, and greenhouse supplies.
  • Coordinate routine greenhouse activities, including plant care, propagation, and facility upkeep.
Collaboration
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, counselors, administrators, and support staff.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional collaboration, and required district trainings.
  • Work closely with CTE staff to maintain program continuity throughout the leave period.
Minimum Requirments
  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate CTE endorsement(s) or eligibility for CTE certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of woods manufacturing, woodworking, construction trades, metal fabrication, welding, greenhouse operations, plant science, agriculture, or related fields.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with students, staff, families, and community members.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to safely operate and instruct students in the use of shop tools and equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching high school CTE courses.
  • Experience advising Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) such as SkillsUSA or FFA.
  • Industry experience in woodworking, manufacturing, welding, metal fabrication, construction, horticulture, agriculture, or greenhouse management.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and industry safety standards.
