Job summary

Holland Hospital is seeking a CT Technologist to perform computed tomography imaging examinations under the supervision of the Radiology Manager. Duties include scheduling, patient prep, contrast administration, image quality review, and cross-training as needed.

The ideal candidate is a Registered Radiologic Technologist with an Associate degree or higher, CT boards preferred, and BLS/CPR certification. This full-time night-shift position requires 36 hours per week and a dedication to patient

Qualifications

• Registered Radiologic Technologist credential required.
• BLS/CPR through the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Explain examination to the patient and obtain a history.
• Position patient for the CT examination according to protocols.
• Operate CT equipment and adjust exposure parameters per department guidelines.
• Administer IV contrast media per protocol and monitor for adverse reactions.
• Review images for quality and document procedures performed.
• Maintain patient safety and comfort, including shielding as appropriate.
• Document charges and complete required forms and logs.
• Coordinate with scheduling and radiology staff to manage daily CT cases.

Job description

CT Technologist

The CT Technologist works under the supervision of the Radiology Manager:

• Schedules CT examinations
• Receives and reviews patient requisitions
• Poses patients for CT imaging
• Administers I.V. contrast media
• Performs computed tomography imaging examinations
• Discharges patients
• Performs miscellaneous related duties
• Performs the Radiology Assistant's duties when needed
• Performs other duties as assigned

This position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and service appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her area.

Employment Type: Full Time Shift: Night Shift, 7p-7a Weekly Scheduled Hours: 36

Requirements

• Associates Degree or higher education
• Registered Radiologic Technologist
• CT Boards preferred
• BLS/CPR through the American Heart Association

Responsibilities

• Explains examination to the patient and obtains a patient history in compliance with departmental and regulatory guidelines
• Positions patient for the examination according to established departmental protocols
• Applies patient immobilization devices and gonad shielding as appropriate
• Enters patient identification information in assigned computer systems
• Selects radiation exposure and computer parameters in accordance with department protocols
• Reviews CT images to insure acceptable image quality
• Completes Patient Charges Records all patient charges as scheduled by ordering physician
• Documents clinical information in computer system and other specified data as required
• Charges the procedure after performing the CT exam
• Completes appropriate consent form for performing the procedure

Administering I.V. Contrast Media

• Selects appropriate contrast media
• Prepares I.V. contrast administration on established protocols
• Explains and reviews contrast administration procedure consent with the patient
• Follows universal precautions in accordance to Hospital policy
• Adheres to I.V. Contrast Medication Administration guidelines as established by the department

Related Duties

• Cleans CT equipment and accessories
• Requests supplies from hospital stock to responsible designee
• Coordinates time of CT examination with other imaging modalities as needed
• Performs daily scanner calibration tests in accordance to manufacturer specifications
• Assists in the cross-training of future personnel
• Performs the Radiology Assistant role in the absence of personnel
• Performs other duties as assigned

Receiving and Reviewing Patient Orders

• Obtains in-patient and out-patient orders from the information system
• Reviews requests for diagnosis and examination requested with interpreting physician to insure appropriate procedure is ordered
• Arranges daily work schedule to accommodate emergent and inpatient CT requests
• Follows the insurance pre-authorization requirements for payer compliance
• Schedules CT examinations Works with Central Scheduling to assist in scheduling outpatient CT examinations
• Verifies indications for requested CT examinations on the daily schedule
• Coordinates CT examinations with other radiology examinations
• Manages the emergent and inpatient orders within the daily schedule
