Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a CT Technologist to perform diagnostic, interventional and molecular imaging procedures. The role includes ensuring proper patient identification, protocol selection, and data handling in a clinical setting. A $15,000 sign-on bonus is available for eligible applicants.

Responsibilities include image evaluation, ALARA-based practice, and assisting with interventional CT procedures. Education requirements include ARRT/NMTCB certification with new grads needing ARRT-R or NMTCB

Qualifications

• Graduate from a specialty radiologic technology program is required.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
• Certification by ARRT or NMTCB is required upon hire; new grads must obtain ARRT-R or NMTCB prior to first day of employment.

• Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
• Applies imaging protocols, optimizes technical factors, prioritizes patient safety per ALARA principles.
• Administers medications via vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner where applicable.
• Evaluates image quality and ensures proper data archival and transfer; handles post-processing as needed.
• Educates and monitors students and other health care providers.
• Assists licensed practitioners with interventional CT procedures.
• Performs CT procedures as prescribed.

Computed Tomography (CT) Technologists are responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic or research purposes. A CT technologist performs computed tomography and molecular imaging procedures and acquires and analyzes data needed for diagnosis, interpretation, and the performance of interventional and therapeutic procedures at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner.

Job Duties

• Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
• Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
• Preparing and/or administering, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable.
• Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.
• Assisting a licensed practitioner with interventional computed tomography procedures.
• Performing computed tomography procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.

Position Details

• Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) OR Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB) need upon hire.
• New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry or NMTCB prior to first day of employment.
• Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps required for advancing to level 2, including advanced certification, within 24 months of hire.
