Geisinger is seeking a CT Technologist to perform computed tomography and molecular imaging procedures, acquire data for diagnosis, and assist in interventional and therapeutic procedures under licensed supervision.

Responsibilities include patient identification and preparation, ALARA safety practices, image evaluation, and education of students and staff while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with policies.

Qualifications

  • ARRT or NMTCB certification required upon hire.
  • New graduates must obtain ARRT-R or NMTCB before first day of employment.
  • Advancement to level 2 within 24 months of hire is required for applicants hired after March 10, 2024.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CT procedures independently or with a licensed practitioner.
  • Prepare, administer and document medications and radiation exposure in compliance with laws and policy.
  • Identify patient and prepare exam with proper documentation and confidentiality.
  • Apply ALARA principles to optimize safety and care.
  • Prepare and administer medications via vascular access as prescribed.
  • Evaluate images for quality and ensure data storage and transfer as needed.
  • Educate and monitor students and other health care providers.
  • Assist licensed practitioner with interventional CT procedures.
  • Perform CT procedures as prescribed.

Job Summary

Computed Tomography (CT) Technologists are responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic or research purposes. A CT technologist performs computed tomography and molecular imaging procedures and acquires and analyzes data needed for diagnosis, interpretation, and the performance of interventional and therapeutic procedures at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner.

Job Duties
  • CT Technologists independently perform or assist the licensed practitioner in the completion of computed tomography.
  • CT technologists prepare, administer and document activities related to medications and radiation exposure in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or lawful institutional policy.
  • Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
  • Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
  • Preparing and/or administering, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable.
  • Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.
  • Assisting a licensed practitioner with interventional computed tomography procedures.
  • Performing computed tomography procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.

Position Details
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) OR Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB) need upon hire.
  • New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry or NMTCB prior to first day of employment.
  • Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps required for advancing to level 2, including advanced certification, within 24 months of hire.
Education
  • Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Radiologic Technology (Required),
  • Bachelor's Degree-Related Field of Study (Preferred)
