Geisinger is hiring a CT Technologist I for the Richmond, VA area. The role involves performing computed tomography procedures and will consider applicants for higher levels (CT Technologist II) as needed.

A $5,000 sign-on bonus is available for eligible applicants. Responsibilities include adhering to ALARA principles, preparing for exams, administering medications as prescribed, and assisting with interventional CT procedures.

Qualifications

• ARRT or NMTCB certification required on hire.
• New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry/NMTCB prior to first day.
• Advanced certification within 24 months of hire for those hired after Mar 10, 2024.

Responsibilities

• Ensure correct order, patient identification, and proper history documentation while maintaining confidentiality.
• Use imaging protocols; optimize factors; protect patient safety per ALARA.
• Administer medications via vascular access as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Evaluate image quality and verify data transfer/storage; post-process as needed.
• Educate and supervise students and other health care providers.
• Assist licensed practitioners with interventional CT procedures; perform CT as prescribed.

This posting reflects an opening for a CT Technologist I and we are seeking candidates for that position. Geisinger reserves the right to consider applicants for higher levels of this role to include CT Technologist II

Computed Tomography (CT) Technologists are responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic or research purposes. A CT technologist performs computed tomography and molecular imaging procedures and acquires and analyzes data needed for diagnosis, interpretation, and the performance of interventional and therapeutic procedures at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner.

CT Technologists independently perform or assist the licensed practitioner in the completion of computed tomography. CT technologists prepare, administer and document activities related to medications and radiation exposure in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or lawful institutional policy.

Job Duties

• Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.


• Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).


• Preparing and/or administering, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.


• Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable.


• Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.


• Assisting a licensed practitioner with interventional computed tomography procedures.


• Performing computed tomography procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.

Position Details

• Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) OR Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB) need upon hire.


• New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry or NMTCB prior to first day of employment.


• Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps required for advancing to level 2, including advanced certification, within 24 months of hire.


• Education: Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Radiologic Technology (Required), Bachelor's Degree-Related Field of Study (Preferred)
