Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a radiologic technologist to perform prescribed imaging procedures with independent judgment and initiative, ensuring high-quality results and patient safety. You will position patients, select exposure factors, and report scan results.

The role requires ARRT RT certification, CPR, and background clearances, with CT certification within 18 months preferred. Eligible for a $30,000 sign-on bonus upon a 3-year commitment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Positions patient and performs imaging procedures independently with appropriate exposure factors and safety standards.
• Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment, and exam to ensure understanding and cooperation.
• Prepares and administers contrast media and medications within scope of practice; monitors patient condition.
• Prepares equipment and performs quality control; troubleshoots equipment malfunctions as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

General Overview

This job performs prescribed radiographic imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and initiative.

Essential Responsibilities

• Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s) independently. Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits, and reports scan results.
• Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment, and exam to ensure patient’s understanding and cooperation.
• When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
• Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions, as necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree; or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• ARRT Registered (RT) in radiography (R) or NMTCB registered (CNMT) is required at time of hire.
• One of the following sets of certifications is required within 18 months of hire or transfer, if already certified, active certification must be maintained:
• Computed Tomography (CT) certified OR
• NMTCB registered (CT) certification
• For employees already in a CT role prior to July 1, 2022 CT certification is not required if not already held; however, existing CT certifications must be maintained.
• CPR – American Heart Association.
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working as a CT Technologist.
