UAB Medicine in Homewood, Alabama, is expanding its ED with advanced CT imaging capabilities. The radiology team seeks CT technologists to perform procedures under radiologist supervision, joining a large trauma center with state-of-the-art equipment, including CT scanners and echo ultrasound.

Start date may be as soon as possible or by August 2026. Qualified candidates will have ARRT RT (R) or NMTCB certification, CT designation within 1 year, and BLS.

Qualifications

• One year general radiography experience preferred.
• CT designation must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days.

Pay range: $32.25 - $52.40 / hour

Shifts: full-time and AM and PM, weekends AM and PM

Schedules: 7 a.m.-7 p.m., 7 p.m.-7 a.m.

Job Highlights

We are expanding our Emergency Department (ED) at UAB Hospital, Alabama’s first ACS-verified Level I Adult Trauma Center, and we’re hiring additional team members. As one of the largest emergency departments in the country, this expansion will include 115+ treatment and triage spaces, more than doubling our capacity as well as a 30-bed inpatient observation unit. The new space was designed with staff input and will have new equipment and features, including dedicated technology like CT scanners, X-ray machines, and echo ultrasound, along with a ceiling lift for bariatric patients, enhanced security, and a streamlined teleadmission process.

Job Description

Under the direction of a radiologist and the CT supervisor, to perform CT procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. To perform a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative to render prescribed CT procedures.

Qualifications

Graduate from a Radiography program accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required. One (1) year experience in general radiography preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently registered as a Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT) (R) with ARRT or currently certified as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). Candidate will have one (1) year from hire date to become registered in Computed Tomography (CT) from ARRT or obtain CT designation from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment.
