Job summary

UAB Medicine is expanding its Emergency Department in Alabama and hiring CT technologists to support increased capacity and a modernized imaging suite. You will perform CT procedures under radiologist supervision, contributing to high-quality patient care in a busy, growing trauma center.

Required ARRT or NMTCB CT certification, BLS, and CT training with opportunities for education benefits and comprehensive PTO as part of a leading academic health system.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a Radiography program accredited by ARRT requirement.
• One year of general radiography experience preferred.
• Current ARRT RT(R) or NMTCB CT certification; CT eligibility within 1 year of hire.
• BLS certification from AHA required or obtained within 30 days of employment.

Position Overview

Pay range: $32.25 - $52.40 / hour

Shifts: full-time and AM and PM, weekends AM and PM

Schedules: 7 a.m.-7 p.m., 7 p.m.-7 a.m.

Job Highlights

We are expanding our Emergency Department (ED) at UAB Hospital, Alabama’s first ACS-verified Level I Adult Trauma Center, and we’re hiring additional team members. As one of the largest emergency departments in the country, this expansion will include 115+ treatment and triage spaces, more than doubling our capacity as well as a 30-bed inpatient observation unit. The new space was designed with staff input and will have new equipment and features, including dedicated technology like CT scanners, X-ray machines, and echo ultrasound, along with a ceiling lift for bariatric patients, enhanced security, and a streamlined teleadmission process.

Job Description

Under the direction of a radiologist and the CT supervisor, to perform CT procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. To perform a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative to render prescribed CT procedures.

Qualifications

Graduate from a Radiography program accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required. One (1) year experience in general radiography preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently registered as a Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT) (R) with ARRT or currently certified as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). Candidate will have one (1) year from hire date to become registered in Computed Tomography (CT) from ARRT or obtain CT designation from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment.
