Job summary

UAB Medicine is expanding its Emergency Department and hiring CT technologists to support advanced imaging in a high-volume trauma system. The role involves performing CT procedures under the direction of a radiologist and CT supervisor, with opportunities to work on state-of-the-art equipment in a large teaching hospital.

Candidates must be a Graduate of an accredited radiology program, be ARRT-registered, and have up to one year to achieve CT certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Radiology.
• Current ARRT Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT) with ARRT.
• Must obtain Computed Tomography (CT) registration within 1 year from hire date; NMTCB/NMTCT certification acceptable.

Position Overview

Pay range: $29.25 - $47.55 / hour

Shifts: full-time and AM and PM, weekends AM and PM

Schedules: 7 a.m.-7 p.m., 7 p.m.-7 a.m.

Job Highlights

We are expanding our Emergency Department (ED) at UAB Hospital, Alabama’s first ACS-verified Level I Adult Trauma Center, and we’re hiring additional team members. As one of the largest emergency departments in the country, this expansion will include 115+ treatment and triage spaces, more than doubling our capacity as well as a 30-bed inpatient observation unit. The new space was designed with staff input and will have new equipment and features, including dedicated technology like CT scanners, X-ray machines, and echo ultrasound, along with a ceiling lift for bariatric patients, enhanced security, and a streamlined teleadmission process.

Job Description

Under the direction of a radiologist and the CT supervisor, to perform CT procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. To perform a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative to render prescribed CT procedures.

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited School of Radiology required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently registered as a Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT) (R) with ARRT. Candidate will have one (1) year from hire date to become registered in Computed Tomography (CT) from ARRT. Or certified as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) required. If certification is not obtained within one year, an additional period of up to one hundred and eighty (180) days may be allowed.
