Job summary

Akumin is seeking a CT Technologist responsible for patient safety while performing high-quality CT studies. The role includes ensuring effective communication with radiologists and may involve training new technologists or Patient Coordinators.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid ARRT certification, and strong customer service skills. The position may require exposure to various physical demands and outside conditions.

Qualifications

• Registered Computed Tomography Technologist by the ARRT or NMTCB certification.
• State license in Medical Imaging (if applicable).
• CPR certification required.
• Active State Driver’s License.

Job description

Overview

The CT Technologist is responsible for patient safety and the performance of high quality CT studies. Responsible for ensuring effective communication with customers, including radiologists as necessary. In some instances, trains new technologists and/or Patient Coordinators.

Responsibilities

• Ensures Patient Safety, including pre‑screening for contra‑indications to radiation and contrast injections.
• Uses aseptic injection techniques.
• Produces high quality diagnostic images.
• Effectively communicates with customers and/or radiologists.
• Trains new technologist and/or Patient Coordinators.
• Trouble‑shoots the scanner, coach and all peripheral equipment (including monitors, PACS, etc.).

Position Requirements / Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience; Associate's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Registered Computed Tomography Technologist by the ARRT (or NMTCB certification acceptable in lieu of ARRT registry if permissible by state).
• State license; licensed in Medical Imaging, if applicable.
• CPR certification.
• Active State Driver’s License (technologists performing mid‑day moves).
• Strong customer service, organizational and multi‑tasking skills.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.

Physical Requirements

May be exposed to outside weather conditions during transport of patients if working on a mobile unit. May be exposed to blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

More than 50% of the time: sit, stand, walk; repetitive movement of hands, arms and legs; see, speak and hear to communicate with patients.

Less than 50% of the time: stoop, kneel or crawl; climb and balance; carry and lift (ability to move non‑ambulatory patients from a sitting or lying position for transfer or to exam).
