Base pay range

$75,020.00/yr - $126,250.00/yr

Job Description

Operates Computed Tomography (CT) equipment, prepares patients for examination, and ensures that proper information has been obtained for the physician to make a diagnosis. Maintains required documentation.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for examination, explains procedures, and sets up equipment to administer the proper procedure in a timely fashion.
• Ensures required consent forms have been obtained.
• Prepares patients for the exam by placing and positioning them on the exam table within the gantry.
• Utilizes special devices (e.g., bromide shield) to reduce exposure to ionizing radiation of radiosensitive areas (e.g., breast, thyroid).
• Adjusts and ensures proper slice thickness and couch increment.
• Collaborates with Radiologist to extend parameters within established imaging protocols if needed.
• Adjusts CT equipment to capture the appropriate field of view and transmits cases to Radiologist through Tele-Radiology system.
• Performs various CT procedures including abdominal, thoracic, neurological exams, extremities, implant planning, radiation therapy planning, biopsies, etc.
• May administer IV and oral contrast agents as per Radiologist's order and perform venipuncture.
• Explains IV contrast administration in layman's terms and completes related documentation.
• Uses appropriate techniques for IV contrast administration and recognizes and assists in managing contrast reactions.
• Performs related duties as required; all responsibilities are considered essential under the ADA.

Qualifications

• Vocational or Technical school Diploma, required.
• New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist, required.
• Current ARRT Radiology registration, required.
• Specialized certifications as needed.
• 1-3 Years of relevant technical experience, required.
