JOB SUMMARY:

The CT Technologist will be responsible for performing computed tomography (CT) scans to assist in diagnosing and evaluating various medical conditions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently, will be proficient in CT imaging techniques, dedicated to patient care, and capable of working effectively within a collaborative healthcare setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform CT scans: Perform high-quality CT imaging procedures, including head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis scans, as well as specialized studies as ordered by physicians.
  • Patient Preparation: Prepare and position patients for CT scans, ensuring they understand the procedure and are comfortable throughout the process.
  • Image Acquisition: Operate CT equipment to capture detailed images, following protocol and safety guidelines to ensure diagnostic accuracy and minimize radiation exposure.
  • Image Review: Operate the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) to assess and verify image quality, adjusting as necessary to achieve optimal results; notify radiologists or physicians of any technical issues or patient concerns.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of patient scans, contrast usage, and technical details in electronic health records (EHR) and generate preliminary reports as needed.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective communication and integration of CT findings into patient care.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Report any malfunctions or issues.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to radiation safety protocols, infection control practices, and regulatory standards to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Patient Care: Provide compassionate care and support to patients, addressing their questions and concerns with sensitivity and professionalism.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree in radiologic technology accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
  • Certification: Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT) from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Registered CT Technologist (RT(C)) from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a CT Technologist, in a clinical or outpatient setting preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating CT imaging equipment and PACS.
  • Clinical Skills: Proficient in performing a variety of CT procedures with high accuracy. Strong understanding of CT anatomy, scanning protocols, and radiation safety practices.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and accuracy in performing and documenting CT procedures.
  • Compassionate Care: Demonstrated ability to provide empathetic and patient-centered care.
