Job summary

UPMC is seeking an imaging professional to join our team as a CT / Diagnostic Technologist. You will perform diagnostic imaging procedures, with emphasis on CT, applying clinical knowledge and technical expertise to deliver high-quality patient care in a collaborative environment.

Typical schedule is 7:45 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. with weekend & holiday rotation. CT-certified candidates are preferred; a sign-on bonus is available for qualified applicants.

Responsibilities

• Perform computed tomography procedures using established scan protocols and contrast administration.
• Operate advanced imaging equipment for acquisition, analysis, reconstruction, and documentation of image data.
• Apply independent judgment to adjust protocols and use ionizing radiation appropriately for diagnostic CT procedures.
• Review patient history and physician orders and apply departmental protocols for optimal imaging results.
• Identify patients using two identifiers and follow universal protocol during procedures.
• Administer oral, rectal, and IV contrast per physician orders and assess risks before administration.
• Perform venipuncture and operate power injectors per department and manufacturer protocols.
• Provide patients with clear instructions, explain procedures, and ease concerns while maintaining cooperation.
• Demonstrate compassion, professionalism, dignity, and respect with patients and coworkers.
• Collaborate with imaging team and other departments to provide timely patient care.
• Ensure exams are properly coded and tracked through RIS and archived/available for interpretation.

CT Technologist Pay Range: $36.99-$49.20/hour
Diagnostic Technologist Pay Range: $31.64–$43.30/hour

What You'll Do

As a member of the imaging team, you will:

• Operate advanced imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, reconstruction, and documentation of image data.
• Apply independent judgment to adjust protocols and appropriately utilize prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic CT procedures.
• Review patient history and physician orders and apply departmental protocols to achieve optimal imaging results.
• Properly identify patients using two patient identifiers and follow universal protocol when performing procedures.
• Administer oral, rectal, and IV contrast according to physician orders and department policy, including assessing patients for potential risk factors prior to administration.
• Perform venipuncture and properly operate power injectors according to department and manufacturer protocols.
• Provide patients with clear, easy-to-understand instructions, explain procedures, and help ease concerns while encouraging cooperation throughout their exam.
• Demonstrate compassion, professionalism, dignity, and respect when interacting with patients and coworkers.
• Collaborate with team members within imaging and across other departments to help provide timely and efficient patient care.
• Ensure exams are properly coded and tracked through RIS, images are appropriately networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and charges are accurately entered.
