Job description

This position is eligible for a $10k sign on bonus!!

Job Summary:

Performs computerized tomography (CT) examinations of patients as requested by referring physicians.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Greets patient, confirms image to be taken, explains procedure to patient, & is sensitive to patients anxiety about procedure.
2. Reviews patients medical history prior to performing CT procedure & confirms that patient has signed a contrast media consent form.
3. Positions patient on examination table & monitors patients condition during examination.
4. Introduces intravenous contrast material as directed by radiologist.
5. Controls & adjusts CT equipment to assure that images meet requirements.
6. Maintains equipment & examination room, stores film, & keeps inventory of related supplies.
7. Prepares patient information files showing patients name, date of CT examination, referring physician, & nature of examination.
8. Prepares & submits reports showing the number & type of examinations.
9. Performs other related duties as directed.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

1. Minimum one (1) year of experience to include on-the-job training and internships as a CT Technologist or registry eligible ARRT advanced certification in CT required; however, for new hires in classification, certification must be obtained within twelve (12) months of hire with one (1) year recent experience as a Radiologic technologist with ARRT required.
2. Per the National Agreement, current KP Coalition employees have this experience requirement waived.

Education

1. High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
2. Graduate of a certified/accredited ARRT program required.
3. Specialized training in computerized tomography required.

License, Certification, Registration

1. Radiologic Technologist License (Maryland)
2. Radiologic Technologist Certification
3. American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Computed Tomography within 12 months of hire
4. Basic Life Support

Additional Requirements:

1. Venipuncture competency checks off or must acquire competency check off w/in three (3) months of hire.
2. Current on CEUs w/ ARRT required.
3. Required to stand, push, pull & lift patients.
4. Position requires ability to concentrate on fine detail w/ constant interruption & attend to tasks for 20 to 45 minutes at a time.
5. Must be able to adjust routine to accommodate patient or department w/out affecting departmental flow.
6. In order to work effectively w/ patients, must have effective interpersonal skills & be able to stand, walk, bend, lift at least 50 pounds, hear, speak, & see.
7. May be required to lift objects heavier than 50 pounds, perform difficult manipulative skills & hand-eye coordination skills, walk & stand for prolonged periods, see objects closely & hear normal sounds w/ some background noises.
8. Proficiency in the use of applicable computer software.
9. Knowledge of customer focused service requirements of the organization.
10. Ability to communicate pleasantly & effectively w/ members & coworkers.
11. Demonstrates good oral & written communication skills.
12. Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
