Job summary

Baptist Health Walker Hospital is seeking a skilled Radiologic/Nuclear Medicine Technologist to perform diagnostic imaging procedures and ensure high-quality patient care with strict radiation safety practices.

Two years CT experience is preferred, with appropriate ARRT/NMTCB certifications. You will participate in education of new technologists and uphold Baptist Health policies across imaging services.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology or Nuclear Medicine Technology.
• Current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider certification is required.
• ARRT or NMTCB certification appropriate to CT/Nuclear Medicine modalities is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation.
• Maintains radiation safety principles during procedures.
• Adheres to state and federal regulations for each modality.
• Assesses patient condition and provides instructions to ensure successful procedures.
• Positions patient and equipment to obtain high-quality images for interpretation.
• Ensures proper patient identification and accurate documentation of history and data.
• Applies radiation safety to minimize exposure to patient and staff.
• Demonstrates proficiency in contrast administration and venipuncture as prescribed.
• Participates in Quality Control tasks and maintains equipment cleanliness.
• Aids in supervision and training of student technologists and new staff.

Position Summary

Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention while adhering to radiation safety principles.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
• Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
• Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
• Adheres to Baptist Health mission statements and strategic imperatives.
• Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs.
• Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
• Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented.
• Positions patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.
• Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
• Applies principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
• Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
• Demonstrates proficiency in contrast medication administration with and without use of power injectors.
• Performs venipuncture and evaluates IV access for the purpose of contrast administration as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Administers medical aid as required in cases of adverse reaction to contrast medication and/or other emergencies.
• Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
• Assists in supervision of student technologists and training of new technologists.
• Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
• Ensures the safety of all customers.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health policies, department guidelines, and education requirements.

Other Related Functions

• Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
• Maintains well-stocked and organized work areas.
• Provides patient transport.

Qualifications

Education/Training

• Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology; or
• Graduate of an approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.

Licensure/Certification

• Maintains current AHA BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
• Additionally, must meet one of the following criteria: o Valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification (R) and valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification (CT); or o Valid Nuclear Medicine Certification Board (NMTCB) in (CT); or o Valid Nuclear Medicine Certification Board (NMTCB) in (CNMT) and valid American Registry of Radiologic Certification (CT).

Experience

• Mandatory minimum of two (2) years’ CT experience and experience in one or more of the following areas:
• Advanced imaging experience and proficiency, including 3D Lab or IR imaging, or Cardiac imaging.
• Site proctor/preceptor for onboarding new hires and cross-training.
• Primary responsibility: Dual imaging roles, with current proficiency and routinely performing in secondary modality.
