Job summary

Baptist Health Walker Hospital is seeking a CT technologist to provide high-quality diagnostic imaging and patient care. You will perform CT procedures, ensure patient safety, and adhere to radiation safety principles in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology or Nuclear Medicine Technology program, ARRT (CT) or NMTCB certifications, and at least two years of CT experience with advanced imaging capabilities.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology or an approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
• Licensure/certification requirements: ARRT (CT) or NMTCB (CT/CNMT) as specified.
• Experience: minimum two years CT experience with advanced imaging, and ability to proctor onboarding and cross-training.

Responsibilities

• Provides quality patient care during diagnostic imaging procedures and adheres to radiation safety principles.
• Operates imaging equipment and positions patients to obtain high-quality images for interpretation.
• Ensures patient safety and comfort, verifies consent and clinical history, and documents information accurately.
• Complies with state and federal regulations and Baptist Health policies.
• Performs contrast administration with and without power injectors when required and monitors for adverse reactions.
• Maintains equipment cleanliness and participates in Quality Control tasks.

Position Summary

Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention while adhering to radiation safety principles.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
• Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
• Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
• Adheres to Baptist Health mission statements and strategic imperatives.
• Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs.
• Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
• Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented.
• Positions patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.
• Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
• Applies principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
• Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
• Demonstrates proficiency in contrast medication administration with and without use of power injectors.
• Performs venipuncture and evaluates IV access for the purpose of contrast administration as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Administers medical aid as required in cases of adverse reaction to contrast medication and/or other emergencies.
• Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
• Assists in supervision of student technologists and training of new technologists.
• Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
• Ensures the safety of all customers.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health policies, department guidelines, and education requirements.

• Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.

• Provides patient transport.

Qualifications

Education/Training

• Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology; or
• Graduate of an approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.

Licensure/Certification

• Maintains current AHA BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
• Additionally, must meet one of the following criteria: o Valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification (R) and valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification (CT); or o Valid Nuclear Medicine Certification Board (NMTCB) in (CT); or o Valid Nuclear Medicine Certification Board (NMTCB) in (CNMT) and valid American Registry of Radiologic Certification (CT).

Experience

• Mandatory minimum of two (2) years’ CT experience and experience in one or more of the following areas:
• Advanced imaging experience and proficiency, including 3D Lab or IR imaging, or Cardiac imaging.
• Site proctor/preceptor for onboarding new hires and cross-training.
• Primary responsibility: Dual imaging roles, with current proficiency and routinely performing in secondary modality.
