Job Summary
The Wellstar Diagnostic Float Team (WESTTeam) supports a variety of imaging services across our facilities. Region One includes Kennedy, North Fulton, and Windy Hill. As a CT Technologist for Region One, you will apply your expertise to deliver safe, high-quality imaging and a supportive patient experience at each location you serve. If you prefer a role that avoids routine, lets you use your full skill set, and provides straightforward pay, this could be a strong fit.
Pay
In return for stepping in where you’re needed most, Float Pool members earn a higher base rate and may be eligible for an afloat incentive.
Schedule & Incentives
- This full-time position offers a $20,000 sign-on bonus.
- Multiple shift options available for self-schedule up to 8 weeks in advance.
- Monthly schedule includes 2 Monday shifts, 2 Friday shifts, and 3 weekend shifts (Sat/Sun).
- This position is eligible for full-time benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Education • High School Diploma or equivalent; Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Experience • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital setting; Minimum 2 years of CT experience in a hospital setting.
- Certifications • ARRT-R (Radiography); ARRT-CT (Computed Tomography); BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform CT exams per physician orders, department protocols, and safety standards.
- Verify patient identity, obtain relevant history, and screen for contraindications (including contrast risk).
- Explain procedures clearly using AIDET and communicate with patients/families with empathy and confidence.
- Prepare and position patients; assist with mobility, safe transfers, and use immobilization/shielding as needed.
- Establish IV access using sterile technique and maintain venipuncture competency.
- Administer contrast media safely and monitor patients for adverse reactions; elevate concerns promptly.
- Operate CT scanners and power injectors safely; confirm proper anatomical markers and scan parameters.
- Optimize technique to achieve diagnostic image quality while minimizing radiation dose (ALARA).
- Evaluate image quality, recognize urgent findings/clinical changes, and involve the radiologist/physician when indicated.
- Complete documentation accurately and on time; manage RIS entries, PACS uploads, and CDs/logs when required.
- Perform, document, and follow through on QC checks, calibration verification, and compliance/audit standards.
- Maintain smooth daily operations by prioritizing workload, supporting cross-coverage/clerical needs, keeping rooms stocked and equipment cleaned/disinfected, participating in on-call, and adhering to regulatory/Joint Commission standards.
