Job summary

The CT Technologist at Cobb Hospital within Wellstar Health System delivers safe, high‑quality imaging and supports patients throughout the exam. You will work as part of a collaborative care team to ensure excellent patient experiences and adherence to imaging protocols.

Requirements include an accredited Radiologic Technology program, ARRT‑R and ARRT‑CT, BLS, and at least 1 year of radiology experience; sign‑on and relocation perks are available.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in Radiology.
  • ARRT-R (Radiography) and ARRT-CT (CT) certifications.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CT procedures per department guidelines and capture quality images.
  • Operate imaging equipment independently, maintaining ALARA dose.
  • Disinfect and maintain rooms/equipment per infection control schedules.
  • Obtain clinical history, verify orders, and identifiers prior to exams.
  • Explain procedures using AIDET and reduce patient anxiety.
  • Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety during visits.
  • Perform exams with contrast using sterile technique when needed.
  • Position patients and apply markers and shielding.
  • Review images for diagnostic quality and finalize studies in RIS/PACS.
  • Monitor patient condition and respond to emergencies; restock equipment.
  • Organize daily workflow and support department operations.
  • Maintain area cleanliness and comply with regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
Experience
  • Minimum 1 year experience in Radiology required.
Certifications
  • ARRT‑R (Radiography)
  • ARRT‑CT (Computed Tomography)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association
Core Responsibilities
  • Perform CT procedures according to department guidelines, use technical knowledge to capture quality diagnostic images.
  • Work independently operating imaging/radiographic equipment safely and adjusting techniques to maintain diagnostic quality at the lowest reasonable dose (ALARA).
  • Clean, disinfect, and maintain rooms/equipment per infection control schedules; identify and report equipment issues promptly.
  • Obtain clinical history and screen for contraindications; verify orders and two unique patient identifiers before any exam.
  • Explain procedures, prep, and post‑care clearly using AIDET; address questions and reduce patient anxiety.
  • Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety; provide age‑appropriate care throughout the visit.
  • Perform exams and administer contrast per protocol, using venipuncture and sterile technique when applicable.
  • Position patients correctly and apply markers, shielding, and immobilization as indicated.
  • Review images for diagnostic acceptability; repeat/correct as needed and release patients appropriately.
  • Complete accurate, timely documentation and ensure studies are correctly finalized in RIS/PACS (including transfers/retrieval, CDs, and prior exam retrieval as needed).
  • Monitor patient condition, respond to emergencies, and help maintain/restock crash cart and life‑support equipment as required.
  • Organize daily workflows to meet expected timeframes; collaborate with technologists/modalities to support department flow.
  • Support operations and compliance, keep areas orderly and stocked, transport patients safely, complete charging/clerical tasks, follow regulatory requirements, and elevate issues to the supervisor.
