Job summary

UPMC Muncy is seeking a CT Technologist for a casual (PRN/As Needed) role on the Imaging Services team. This position offers flexible scheduling with coverage across day, evening, and overnight shifts, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed.

You will perform advanced diagnostic CT procedures, administer contrast, and collaborate with radiologists and nurses to deliver high-quality patient care in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform computed tomography (CT) procedures utilizing established imaging protocols with minimal supervision.
• Administer oral, rectal, and intravenous contrast media in accordance with physician orders and departmental policies.
• Assess patients for potential risk factors prior to contrast administration.
• Operate advanced imaging equipment to acquire, analyze, reconstruct, and document high-quality diagnostic images.
• Utilize independent judgment to adjust scanning protocols and optimize image quality while ensuring patient safety.
• Perform venipuncture and safely operate power injectors according to departmental and manufacturer guidelines.
• Verify patient identity utilizing two patient identifiers and follow all universal safety protocols.
• Review physician orders, patient histories, and clinical information to ensure appropriate imaging studies are performed.
• Accurately document patient information and imaging procedures in the electronic medical record.
• Ensure exams are properly coded, tracked, archived, and transmitted through RIS and PACS systems for interpretation.
• Clearly explain procedures, answer questions, and help alleviate patient anxiety throughout the imaging process.
• Collaborate effectively with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide efficient, high-quality care.
• Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and respect in every patient interaction.
