To provide diagnostic Computed Tomography Services to inpatients, outpatients, and Emergency Department patients under the direction of the supervising radiologist in accordance with established operating procedures and clinical protocols. To provide safe, prompt, efficient, and cost effective CT Services.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days by AHA

Responsibilities
  • Position patients correctly, using proper immobilization techniques.
  • Perform optimal scans using correct technical factors and protocols based on patient diagnosis, history and other relevant clinical information.
  • Use correct technical factors in accordance with the American College of Radiology (ACR) to use the lowest amount of radiation to obtain a diagnostic scan.
  • Follow the CT Department Technologist workflow: select correct scan room, identify and document two forms of identification on each patient, acquire history, verify orders, scan patient, send images to PACS, complete paperwork and data sheets (e.g., history sheet, med‑reconciliation sheets), complete the case in Meditech, address QA issues, charge for contrast media and supplies, verify that all images and series have been sent to PACS, ensure the number of images is correct, verify exams with images, archive images on scanner.
  • Initiate IV for administration of contrast media for CT in accordance with department policy and utilizing standard precautions.
  • Prepare the patient for exams by explaining the procedure, encouraging questions and answering any questions the patient may have.
  • Refer difficult complaints or sensitive issues to department management.
  • Transport patients to and from departments when necessary, assist in transfer of patients on and off the CT table, continually monitor patient condition during the CT procedure.
  • Provide explanation of delays for testing to patients who are waiting past their scheduled time.
  • Obtain and document confidential history (e.g., lab values such as GFR/Creatinine, allergy screening, surgical and dialysis history) from the patient, EMR or family member to ensure the appropriateness of the exam as well as administration of contrast media.
  • Document charges for supplies used during the performance of exams or procedures, modify and initiate charges per the radiologist or ordering physician.
  • Document any allergic reaction, IV extravasation or unusual occurrence, and initiate an incident report regarding staff or patient situations.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of supplies, notify ordering personnel in a timely manner when supplies need to be ordered.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient and other information.
  • Report to work on time and be ready to start work.
  • Understand and use field of view, kVp, mAs and other adjustments and factors on the equipment to produce high‑quality images.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and cooperation, working well with others.
  • Perform all other job duties as assigned.
Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $32.1 per hour - $55.21 per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
