Responsibilities

  • Assist radiologists in performing CT imaging procedures.

  • Maintain ALARA safety and quality standards in all exams.
  • Prepare equipment, instrumentation, and supplies to support CT exams.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting standards.
  • Coordinate patient care and document actions taken.
  • Monitor inventory to prevent service interruptions.
  • Demonstrate detail orientation and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

Job description

Newport News, Virginia Hiring Range $34.40 - $47.30/Hourly Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs. Hours: Labor Pool (as needed)

Overview

The CT Technologist in a hospital setting is responsible for performing CT exams on patients as requested by the referring physicians. Performs all CT exams and procedures in accordance with RHS policy and procedures. Performs patient preparation and explanation of exams, responds to patient questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and process, IV insertions and contrast injections, and completes all associated patient and equipment screening and technical documentation.

  • Assists radiologists in performing CT imaging procedures.
  • Select proper protocol to obtain optimal images and provides clinical documentation per scope of practice.
  • Performs with a high degree of safety and quality and prevents or reduces harms through knowledge and application of policies, procedures, protocols using safety behaviors.
  • Responsible for the preparation of equipment, instrumentation, and departmental supplies required to support quality patient care.
  • Follows ALARA principles according to policy.
  • Understands and adheres to all applicable regulatory and accrediting standards.
  • Reports variances.
  • Coordinates patient care and performs effective assessment, actions, and documentation.
  • Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services.
  • Detail oriented ability to multi-task organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
  • Experience CT experience (Preferred)
  • Licenses and Certifications Registered Radiologic Technologists - The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Computed Tomography (CT) - Upon Hire (Required) and CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) - Upon Hire (Required)
  • Non-Registered Radiologic Technologists - The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) ARRT (R) - Upon Hire (Required) or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technician (CNMT) - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board Inc (NMTCB) - Upon Hire (Required) and Radiologic Technologists - The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (ARRT) (CT) Registry within 2 Years (Required) and CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
