Job summary

UNC Health Care is seeking a CT Technologist for the Lenoir Health CT department. You will perform computed tomography exams, assist Radiologists, and contribute to high-quality patient imaging outcomes in a fast-paced setting.

The role requires independent decision-making, proficiency with IV contrast, CPR, and leadership in supervising student technologists. Expect night shifts with rotating weekends and onsite work at UNC Lenoir Health Care.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
• Clinical rotation through a hospital setting during training, or completion of a certified CT program, or one year experience as a CT Technologist.

Responsibilities

• Perform CT exams and invasive procedures with Radiologist to ensure high-quality diagnostic images.
• Provide prompt, courteous service to patients and families and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
• Assist Radiologist by obtaining diagnostic quality images and maintaining a safe, efficient CT suite.

Summary

Performs a variety of exams and invasive procedures using computed tomography. Utilizes independent judgement and possess high quality skills and knowledge of computed tomography. Works directly with the Radiologist in setting up exams and performing invasive procedures to achieve the highest quality outcome for the patient.

Responsibilities

Patients and their families are served by performing procedures in a prompt and courteous manner resulting in high quality images. Provides excellent communication skills with members of the healthcare team and physicians. Assists Radiologist by providing diagnostic quality images for interpretation. Projects a positive image of the Radiology Department and hospital at all times. LENOIR

• EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Graduation from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
• PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
  • Clinical rotation through a hospital setting during training, or completion of a certified CT program, or one year experience as a CT Technologist.
• LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or registry eligible.
• KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
  • CPR training. Ability to make independent decisions. Knowledge and ability of intravenous therapy to inject iodinated contrast material. Demonstrates continuous leadership ability. Encourages proper training and supervision of student technologist rotating through the CT department.
• WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Due to indirect or direct contact, you may be at risk for exposure to tuberculosis, bloodborne pathogens (which may include HIV and Hepatitis B) and/or other potentially infectious diseases. Exposure to ionizing radiation. Personal Protective Equipment required for patient exposure and Radiation Protective equipment required for radiation exposure.
• PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT
  • Walking and standing throughout shift. Pushes and pulls stretchers and wheelchairs occupied with patients throughout the shift. Lift patients daily with assistance. Stressful work shifts during periods of high patient volume. Rotating call responsibility.
