CT Technologist Position Summary

The CT Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality computed tomography (CT) imaging procedures in accordance with physician orders and radiologist protocols. This role involves preparing and positioning patients, operating CT scanners, and ensuring accurate image acquisition while prioritizing patient safety and comfort. The technologist must demonstrate a strong understanding of radiation safety practices and be proficient in the use of imaging equipment and related systems such as PACS and RIS.

This position requires excellent technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The technologist must be flexible to work at multiple locations and varied shifts and be committed to delivering exceptional patient care and service. A proactive approach to problem‑solving, continuous learning, and teamwork is essential for success in this role.

CT Technologist Detailed Responsibilities
  • Explain procedure to patient, to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation. Position and immobilize patient in exam scanners and observe during scan for patient safety.
  • Monitor video display of area being scanned and adjust technique to improve quality. Review and evaluate images for technical quality for diagnostic purposes.
  • Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and staff.
  • Able to answer patient, technologist and radiologist questions.
  • Must be able to go beyond duties in order to do what is best for the patients and department.
  • Verify exams for completion in PACS and complete charting work in RIS.
  • Understands and demonstrates correct usage of necessary equipment to perform procedures.
  • Follows protocols requested by Radiologist.
  • Demonstrates appropriate use of communication tool that allows patient and technologist to communicate during examination.
  • Enters data such as patient history, anatomical area to be scanned, orientation specified, and position of entry into aperture into computer.
  • Completes forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed.
  • Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and is responsible in arranging for repairs as needed.
  • Must be flexible to work at multiple locations, Must be flexible to work varied shifts.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Education and/or Experience

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two year college or technical school

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • MRTBE/AZDHS
  • ARRT board certification in CT must be obtained. If not certified in specialty must be obtained within 24 months.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
