Job summary

UPMC Passavant is seeking a CT Technologist to perform CT imaging procedures independently with minimal supervision. You will apply ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes, while demonstrating judgment, ingenuity, and initiative.

The role involves CT protocol execution, RIS/ISITE exam tracking, contrast administration, venipuncture, and collaboration with departments to expedite patient care. Sign-on bonus and loan repayment support eligible as described.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform CT imaging independently and safely.

Responsibilities

• Conduct CT procedures using established protocols with minimal supervision.

• Administer contrast as ordered and assess patient risk factors.

• Adjust protocols for diagnostic CT while ensuring radiation safety.
• Interact with patients and colleagues with care, dignity, and respect.
• Identify patients using two identifiers and document history in EHR.
• Demonstrate venipuncture technique and use power injectors per protocols.

UPMC Passavant is seeking a skilled CT Technologist to perform imaging procedures independently, without constant supervision. As a competent professional, you’ll apply ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes, demonstrating judgment, ingenuity, and initiative.

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct computed tomography (CT) procedures using established scan protocols, including contrast administration, with minimal supervision.
2. Operate complex imaging equipment for data acquisition, analysis, reconstruction, and documentation, adhering to protocols.
3. Ensure accurate coding and tracking of all exams within your responsibility area via the RIS system. Network exams to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and enter charges appropriately.
4. Administer PO, rectal, and IV contrast as per physician orders and department policy. Assess patients for potential risk factors before contrast administration.
5. Communicate instructions to patients clearly and concisely, alleviating fears and encouraging cooperation.
6. Independently adjust protocols for technical procedures, applying ionizing radiation appropriately for diagnostic CT purposes.
7. Interact effectively with patients and colleagues, demonstrating care, active listening, dignity, and respect. Collaborate across departments to expedite patient care.
8. Properly identify patients using two identifiers and follow universal protocol during procedures. Review patient history and apply departmental protocols for optimal data acquisition. Document patient history in electronic records.
9. Demonstrate correct venipuncture technique and use power injectors according to departmental or manufacturer protocols.
