Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Barrow Emergency Stroke Treatment Unit (BESTU) is a specially equipped and staffed mobile emergency room that brings expert stroke care directly to patients, revolutionizing the way many stroke victims in Phoenix receive treatment. The mobile stroke unit contains a portable lab and CT scanner, clot‑dissolving drugs, and a trained stroke team. The team connects with a Barrow vascular neurologist via telemedicine. Barrow launched the unit in partnership with the Phoenix Fire Department, whose 911 dispatchers deploy the unit whenever they receive a call about a possible stroke within the unit’s response radius. The collaboration is helping to speed the process in which strokes are diagnosed and treated, with the goal of reducing death and long‑term disability among stroke victims.

Core Functions

• Perform CT scanning, recommend performance improvement activities, and assist in equipment and procedure evaluations in the mobile stroke setting.
• Conduct CT scans based on current protocols and/or radiologist recommendations, including trauma/ER, perfusions, routine body, routine neuro, cardiac, and interventional procedures, while practicing good radiation safety and ALARA principles.
• Accurately perform work‑ups such as perfusions and reconstructions on the 3‑D workstation.
• Complete hospital/department specific forms per protocol, including exams in Radnet, incident reports, extravasation forms, and patient contrast information forms. Document scans in PACS as required.

Compensation and Bonuses

Relocation assistance of $10,000.00 available to eligible new hires. Sign‑on bonus eligible. Night shift differential: 18%, weekend shift differential: 10%.

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Completion of an approved American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or equivalent approved Radiologic Technologist Program.
• Must hold and maintain Arizona DHS Bureau of Special Licensing (1) CRT: Certified Radiologic Technologist (CT CRT) and (2) CTCT: Certified Technologist/Computed Tomography (3) Arizona Driver’s License (DRV LIC).
• Must also hold and maintain national (4) American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (CT ARRT) and (5) American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CT CPRBLS).

Preferred

• Three years of CT experience

Pay Range

$37.40 – $55.63 per hour
