RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a CT Technologist for the Morris Cancer Center in New Brunswick, NJ. The role performs a variety of CAT scan procedures and prioritizes patient care while delivering high-quality imaging.

This full-time night shift requires ARRT or CRT and NJ licensure, with AMA approved Radiography education and at least a high school diploma. Three years hospital experience is preferred, with duties at multiple RWJBarnabas Health facilities in the New Brunswick area.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiography Education.
• Must have ARRT or CRT and State of New Jersey License.

Responsibilities

• Position patients and set up for CAT scan procedures.
• Perform CT scans under Radiologist direction and ensure proper technique.
• Maintain equipment and following radiation protection practices.
• Enter studies in RIS/HIS and manage PACS as required.
• Assist in patient scheduling and prep for contrast administration.

Job Overview: Performs duties directly involved with a variety of CAT Scan procedures. Prioritizes the patient as number one, and to put forth the utmost quality as a CT Technologist.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of an A.M.A. approved school of Radiography Education.
• Must have ARRT or CRT and State of New Jersey License.

Preferred:

• Experience: Three years hospital experience as a staff technologist preferred, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Scheduling Requirements:

• Full-Time Nights,830p-7a,at Morris Cancer Center - New Brunswick, NJ, will also have responsibilities at University Hospitaland Plum St. Imaging Center on the New Brunswick Campus.
• All three buildings are connected by bridge.

Essential Functions:

• Positions patient to obtain study as prescribed by standard operating procedures.
• Able to position all anatomical parts as indicated by the Standard Operating Procedures.
• Performs the preparation in order to insure the prompt commencement of the procedure.
• Ensures all necessary equipment is at hand prior to starting the ordered examination.
• Under the direction of a Radiologist, instructs and administers cleansing preps and contrast agents.
• Protects patients and other personnel by administrating proper radiation protection techniques.
• Protects the reproductive organs with appropriate apparel, if visualization of these areas is not required.
• Transfers and properly position patients for examinations in order to obtain desired radiographic results according to physician specifications.
• Assists physicians in performance of examinations.
• As outlined in radiology policy and procedure and under the direction of the medical chairman the technologist will have proven competency in the administration of IV contrast media, to include venipuncture.
• Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination.
• Secures and returns supplies.
• Maintains room and room’s stock.
• Responsible for necessary equipment maintenance recommendations and troubleshooting when indicated.
• Keeps all necessary equipment maintenance logs which pertain to preventative maintenance of Emergency service.
• Makes sure all necessary supplies are in room and restocks room accordingly.
• Responsible for patient scheduling and smooth flow of schedule and patient preparation including contrast administration.
• Responsible for quality control of Cat scan examinations.
• Uses the computer system according to standard operating procedures:
• Able to enter studies in RIS and HIS, and track cases.
• Able to split and fix studies in PACS as necessary.
• Attends in-service training as required by the department
• Able to attend the majority of educational in-services.
• Explains procedures to the patient and answers any questions prior to the commencement of the procedures.
• Completes all necessary paperwork/documentation prior to the submitting of the procedure for interpretation.
• Assists in the instruction of student technologists.
