RWJBarnabas Health in New Brunswick, NJ seeks a CT Technologist to perform a variety of CAT Scan procedures. You will prioritize patient safety and deliver high-quality imaging under Radiologist supervision, ensuring accurate studies and efficient workflow.

Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma or equivalent, graduation from an AMA-approved radiography program, ARRT or CRT certification, and New Jersey license.

• Must have ARRT or CRT and State of New Jersey License.

Responsibilities

• Position patient to obtain study as prescribed by SOP.
• Ensure all equipment is ready before starting examination.
• Under Radiologist direction, administer contrast agents when indicated.
• Protect patients with proper radiation safety techniques.
• Assist radiologists in examinations.
• Maintain sterile technique and restock supplies.
• Enter studies in RIS/HIS and manage PACS as needed.
• Explain procedures to patients and complete paperwork prior to interpretation.

Job Overview:

Performs duties directly involved with a variety of CAT Scan procedures. Prioritizes the patient as number one, and to put forth the utmost quality as a CT Technologist.

Qualifications:

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of an A.M.A. approved school of Radiography Education. Must have ARRT or CRT and State of New Jersey License.

Preferred: Experience: Three years hospital experience as a staff technologist preferred, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Scheduling Requirements:

Full-Time Nights, 830p-7a, at Morris Cancer Center - New Brunswick, NJ, will also have responsibilities at University Hospital and Plum St. Imaging Center on the New Brunswick Campus. All three buildings are connected by bridge.

Essential Functions:

• Positions patient to obtain study as prescribed by standard operating procedures.
• Able to position all anatomical parts as indicated by the Standard Operating Procedures.
• Performs the preparation in order to insure the prompt commencement of the procedure.
• Ensures all necessary equipment is at hand prior to starting the ordered examination.
• Under the direction of a Radiologist, instructs and administers cleansing preps and contrast agents.
• Protects patients and other personnel by administrating proper radiation protection techniques.
• Protects the reproductive organs with appropriate apparel, if visualization of these areas is not required.
• Transfers and properly position patients for examinations in order to obtain desired radiographic results according to physician specifications.
• Assists physicians in performance of examinations.
• As outlined in radiology policy and procedure and under the direction of the medical chairman the technologist will have proven competency in the administration of IV contrast media, to include venipuncture.
• Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Secures and returns supplies. Maintains room and room’s stock.
• Responsible for necessary equipment maintenance recommendations and troubleshooting when indicated.
• Keeps all necessary equipment maintenance logs which pertain to preventative maintenance of Emergency service.
• Makes sure all necessary supplies are in room and restocks room accordingly.
• Responsible for patient scheduling and smooth flow of schedule and patient preparation including contrast administration.
• Responsible for quality control of Cat scan examinations.
• Uses the computer system according to standard operating procedures: Able to enter studies in RIS and HIS, and track cases. Able to split and fix studies in PACS as necessary.
• Attends in-service training as required by the department Able to attend the majority of educational in-services. Explains procedures to the patient and answers any questions prior to the commencement of the procedures. Completes all necessary paperwork/documentation prior to the submitting of the procedure for interpretation. Assists in the instruction of student technologists.
