Job summary

Seton Medical Center Harker Heights is seeking a CT Technologist for variable shift, PRN coverage. You will perform CT imaging with proper parameters, ensuring high-quality diagnostic studies and patient safety.

The role requires ARRT CT registry, MRT license in Texas, and BLS. You will collaborate with radiology staff, provide care during procedures, and maintain equipment and safety standards in a busy imaging department.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • ARRT registry completed for Radiologic Technologist.
  • Licensed MRT by the Department of State Health Services.
  • BLS certification within 14 days of hire or transfer.

Responsibilities

  • Explain CT procedure to patient and family in a thorough, professional manner.
  • Perform CT procedures with correct MAS, kVp, positioning and image quality.
  • Ensure patient care is delivered in a personalized, professional, and quality manner.
  • Provide minimal nursing care and seek physician or nursing assistance as needed.
  • Transport patients to Imaging Services safely and without injury.
  • Perform quality control on CT equipment and report malfunctions.
  • Maintain CT rooms and work area clean and organized.
  • Communicate effectively with medical, nursing and administrative staff.
  • Adhere to ALARA radiation safety practices.
  • Enter/retrieve patient data from PACS/HIS accurately.
  • Ensure Joint Commission and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Prepare and maintain department paperwork.

  • Seton Medical Center Harker Heights is an 83-bed acute care hospital offering services such as Cardiology, Emergency Services and a Level IV Trauma Designated ER, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Total Joint Replacement, Gastroenterology, Diagnostic Services, and more.
Responsibilities
  • Explain CT procedure to the patient and/or family member in a thorough and professional manner.
  • Perform CT procedures, ascertaining appropriate imaging parameters (MAS, KVP, positioning, etc.) are utilized, providing physician with a quality diagnostic procedure.
  • Ascertain the delivery of patient care is provided in a personalized, professional and quality manner.
  • Provide minimal nursing care to patient, ascertaining the patient is comfortable in the department. Seek additional nursing or physician assistance when necessary.
  • Transport patients to and from Imaging Services, ascertaining that the patient is relocated without injury or incident.
  • Perform quality control on equipment and notify management immediately of any potential malfunction or hazard of equipment.
  • Maintain CT procedure rooms and work area in a clean and organized manner.
  • Maintain effective communication with medical staff, administrative staff, nursing staff and other team members.
  • Adhere to appropriate radiation safety, practicing the concept of As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA).
  • Enter and retrieve patient information from the Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) and Hospital Information System (HIS) in a proficient manner.
  • Ascertain that Joint Commission, local, state and federal accrediting and licensing bodies' requirements are met.
  • Prepare and maintain department paperwork, verifying accuracy of information.
Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of required education to obtain registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Licensed by the Department of State Health Services as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT).
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
Preferred Job Requirements
  • Previous employment as a CT Technologist.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) for Computerized Tomography (CT).
