Job summary

Trinity Health's Grand Haven Hospital seeks a Radiologic Technologist for CT and radiographic procedures. This Full-time Night shift role includes weekend and holiday rotation, with a Sign-On bonus for eligible hires.

You will work under supervision to perform CT scans, mentor students, and ensure patient safety and image quality. The ideal candidate is a graduate of an approved Radiographic Technology program with ARRT registration and CT registration planned within a year.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of Radiographic Technology.
• ARRT Radiography registration required; CT registration within one year.

Responsibilities

• Performs CT Scans of head, body and extremity; performs interventional CT for biopsies or drainage.
• Positions patients carefully and accurately; applies immobilization devices as needed.
• Selects CT factors (mA, kVp, slice width) to produce high quality images.
• Adheres to ALARA principles and ensures radiation safety.
• Performs office/clerical duties and enters orders in the HIS as needed.

Position Summary:

Performs professional duties related to a variety of radiographic technical procedures and CT Scan procedures using ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis and therapy. Has the latitude for independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to complete the requested procedure within the scope of his/her license. Assists in mentoring student technologists in their clinical rotation of Trinity Hospital Grand Haven.

What you will do:

• Performs CT Scans of all types including head, body and extremity scans.
• Performs interventional CT Scans for biopsies or various drainage procedures.
• Positions the patient carefully and accurately to obtain the requested examination; adapts positioning due to variations such as trauma, patient age, patient body habitus, suspected or known pathology, etc. to produce diagnostic images according to developed protocols and accepted medical practice. Applies supportive and/or immobilization devices to obtain the requested examination as necessary.
• Selects the correct CT Scan factors (mA, kVp, slice width, helical vs. non-helical, etc.) to produce high quality images; adapts technical factors for unusual variations of the patient or other factors (pathology, etc.).
• Provides the appropriate radiation shielding and collimation to adhere to ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principles. Provides for the radiation safety of all persons in the area where radiation is employed.
• Performs office/clerical duties in the absence of clerical support staff.
• Places orders and charges in the Hospital Information computer as necessary.
• Gives pertinent preparatory instructions for the test.
• Obtains the patient’s name, date of birth, phone number and MPI number if known.
• Obtains pertinent clinical history that supports the procedure being ordered and consults the ordering physician or nurse when the information is inadequate.
• Obtains any required Laboratory values prior to the procedure.
• Secures all necessary supplies to maintain a prudent inventory level for patient care.

What you will need:

• Graduate of an approved school of Radiographic Technology
• Current registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography, RT(R), without restriction, must be CT registered within one (1) year.
