Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a CT Technologist to join a network of facilities in the Baltimore area, including Union Memorial, Harbor, Good Samaritan, and Franklin Square. You will perform CT imaging with emphasis on dose reduction, patient safety, and quality care across locations.

The role requires an Associate degree or Radiologic Technology certificate, 0.5–1 year CT experience preferred, and adherence to ARRT ethics.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or Radiologic Technology certificate to accrediting bodies as required.
• CT experience: less than 1 year to 6 months, or CT certificate program completed.
• Commitment to safety and patient care standards.

Responsibilities

• Execute basic CT competency across locations and patient populations.
• Assist with performance improvement initiatives and training activities.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and manage supplies/inventory.
• Prepare patients and transport to CT; verify orders and room readiness.
• Perform quality control and report equipment concerns promptly.
• Educate patients and address their questions and concerns.
• Document care in EHR and send final images to PACS for interpretation.
• Uphold SPIRIT values and ARRT ethics standards.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Executes basic clinical competency in CT across all locations and patient populations. Selectsappropriate technicalfactors based on individual patient needs anddemonstratesthe knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care. Adheres to Image Wisely and Image Gently principles to support radiation dose reduction. Performs IV access andadministerscontrast according to facility policy.Assistswith invasive procedures performed under CT guidance.

• Participatesin departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives and workflow optimization efforts to enhance patient experience, quality, safety, operational efficiency, and overall patient care. Actively contributes to student and employee training, onboarding, and educational activities.

• Maintains a clean, safe, and prepared work environment, including cleaning and preparing patient rooms. Maintains adequate supplies and inventory within the assigned area. Prepares contrast administration and invasive procedure areas using aseptictechniqueand sterile processesin accordance withestablished protocols.

• Transports patients to the CT scanner and prepares the examination room. Verifies orders, patient preparation, and the reason for the exam to ensureappropriate scanningprotocols areutilized.Communicateseffectively with patients by obtaining medical history, answering questions, and explaining procedures to promote patient understanding, comfort, and cooperation.Processesexaminations for interpretation.

• Ensures the proper maintenance and operation of equipment by performing quality control procedures and promptly reporting equipment or environmental concerns.

• Provides patient education and support, including preparing patients for procedures and addressing their physical and emotional needs. Escalates concerns throughappropriate channelsas needed.

• Prioritizes patient flow and coordinates care through consistent and effective communication with patients, care teams, and families. Documents patient care activities in applicable electronic health record systems anddistributesfinal images to the PACS systemin a timely mannerfor interpretation.

• Consistently acts and communicates professionally, embodying the organization's SPIRIT values and fostering a respectful, supportive environment for patients, families, and colleagues. Adheres to ARRT Standards of Ethics.

• Applies knowledge of CT principles and practices, including anatomy and physiology, radiation safety, physics, patient positioning, and patient care techniques.Complies withJoint Commission, state, federal, organizational, and departmental regulatoryrequirementsand standards.

Qualifications

Education

• Associate degreerequired; or

• Certificate in Radiologic Technology from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE), the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or the Medical Education and Training Campus (METC)required.

Experience

• Less than 1 year to 6 months of CT experiencerequired; or

• Successful completion of a CT certificate or cross-training program preferred.

This position has a hiring range of
USD $35.68 - USD $58.84 /Hr.
