The CT Technologist performs computed tomography procedures and related techniques, producing sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation, and assists with interventional and therapeutic procedures.
Responsibilities
- Performs complex CT procedures.
- Evaluates radiographs for proper identification and diagnostic quality.
- Uses appropriate techniques to gather relevant patient information and prepare protocols, ensuring patient safety.
- Prepares patients for scanning, including shielding and immobilization.
- Assists providers with CT-guided interventional procedures.
- Performs CT examinations and administers contrast following departmental protocols.
- Provides explanations and instructions to patients, addressing questions and concerns.
- Performs venipuncture, IV maintenance, and monitors patient during procedures.
- Reviews images for quality and determines if additional scans are needed.
- Performs retrospective reconstruction on raw data.
- Provides technical assistance and instruction to students and residents.
- Adheres to principles of 'Image Gently' & 'Image Wisely'.
- Follows infection control and sterile techniques.
- Adjusts scanning parameters for optimal imaging.
- Ensures completeness and accuracy of diagnostic data.
- Documents data in records and archives images per guidelines.
- Assesses equipment performance.
- Performs daily clerical tasks using hospital systems.
- Greets patients following AIDET standards.
- Administers emergency care, including CPR if necessary.
- Works scheduled shifts, including holidays and weekends, with overtime and on-call as needed.
- Adapts care to meet the needs of diverse patient populations.
- Performs modality-specific QA.
- Performs other duties or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
- Lifts at least 25 lbs., pushes/pulls 50 lbs., and stands for at least 6 hours daily.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- Completion of AMA-approved Radiologic Technology program.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficient in computer skills, including MS Office or Google Suite.
Licenses and Certifications
- ARRT (CT) certification within 9 months of hire.
- NJ state license for Diagnostic Radiology.
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 60 days of hire.
